A Tamarac man is in custody following accusations of carjacking and kidnapping a man from a gas station, as well as forcing a $500 transaction through Zelle. Kenneth Cole Harp, 42, was detained by the Broward Sheriff’s Office after an incident that allegedly started at the 7-Eleven on 7901 W. Commercial Blvd.

According to Local 10, the arrest report details Harp entering the victim's vehicle while he was seated inside and instructing the victim to drive to multiple locations. The victim later identified Harp in a photo lineup after reporting the incident to the police. Harp was subsequently located in Hollywood on the same day, taken into custody and faced charges for kidnapping, robbery/carjacking, and fraudulent use of another’s ID without consent.

In addition to these charges, a Facebook post from BrowardFLMugshots revealed that Harp has a previous encounter with law enforcement. He was arrested on September 28, 2025, for battery/domestic violence, a second or subsequent offense, indicating a pattern of legal issues for the Tamarac man.

Harp argued that the supposed carjacking was actually a "voluntary paid ride," despite the victim's claims. Harp mentioned it was plausible that the victim was frightened because he "jumped in the car" and told him he was "in trouble," according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office. He is currently held at the Broward County Main Jail with no bond allotted. The investigation continues, as reported by Local 10.
