A Tampa man faces the prospect of life imprisonment following his indictment on charges including coercion of a minor into sexual activity and creation of child sexual abuse material. The United States Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Florida announced the charges against 49-year-old Angel Rivera of Tampa, with U.S. Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe leading the statement. Rivera is accused of multiple counts involving a minor under the age of 18 between October 15 and November 22, 2025, according to the official press release.
The indictment alleges that Rivera knowingly tried to persuade, induce, entice, and coerce an individual whom he believed to be younger than 16 to participate in sexual conduct and to transfer obscene materials on October 16, 2025. The charges further accuse him of utilizing a minor for the production of sexually explicit visual content on October 19 and October 22. Notwithstanding the severity of the allegations, it must be remembered that an indictment is not a conviction, and the defendant remains innocent unless proven guilty.
This investigation is a cooperative effort between the FBI and the Tampa Police Department. The prosecution is led by Assistant United States Attorney Courtney Derry. This case forms part of the broader initiative "Project Safe Childhood," launched in 2006 with the goal of combatting child sexual exploitation and abuse.
A conviction on all counts for Rivera would result in a lifetime behind bars. However, the judicial process must unfold, offering the accused the chance to confront the charges in a court of law.
