Last Friday's shooting on Pioneer Road left two teens wounded and two others in custody after a black Cadillac tried and failed to outrun Balch Springs police, officials said.
Officers were called to the 4600 block of Pioneer Road just before 9 p.m., where investigators found several shell casings on the ground. A juvenile in the vehicle had been shot in the arm and was taken to a hospital, and a second gunshot victim showed up at a hospital later. Police said both are expected to recover. Authorities said the vehicle involved, described by officers as a black Cadillac, fled the area before police located it.
Police say chase ended with DPS help
Balch Springs police told reporters they spotted the Cadillac leaving the scene at 4608 Pioneer Rd and tried to pull it over. The driver took off instead, triggering a pursuit that ended only after the Texas Department of Public Safety helped stop the car, according to FOX 4.
Officers arrested the juvenile driver on charges that included possession of an unlawful handgun and possession of narcotics, and booked a juvenile passenger on possession charges, the department said. The names of those arrested have not been released as investigators continue to probe the incident.
City still on edge after separate bank shooting
The Pioneer Road shooting comes on the heels of an armored-truck worker being shot outside a Chase Bank in Balch Springs earlier in the week, an attack that drew an FBI-led investigation and a later arrest, per reporting by The Dallas Morning News. Local law enforcement agencies have been canvassing neighborhoods and reviewing surveillance footage as both probes remain active.
