Three individuals were rushed to the hospital following a severe accident on Friday in front of Curry College. The collision, which took place just before the noon hour near the Bill Hill Avenue entrance to the campus, involved two vehicles—one overturning and the other ending up atop the overturned car. Following the crash, police stated that the upheaval resulted in the temporary closure of the southbound lane of Blue Hill Avenue, as reported by Boston 25 News.
In a separate account from a Milton resident, Jamie Dahmer described the moment the crash occurred. "I remember hearing the screech of tires and a thump," Dahmer told WHDH. The collision's dynamics forced the two cars to become wedged between a utility pole and a stone sign, prompting the need for a crane to dislodge them. Upon happening upon the scene, Curry College student Jack Crosby managed to document the aftermath on his phone, expressing, "I’m like, ‘this is crazy’. It’s like a really bad accident."
Milton police revealed the crash happened as one of the vehicles attempted to make a left turn into the Curry campus. It was a stroke of fortune that the two drivers and one passenger, all of whom were wearing seatbelts, were able to exit the wreckage on their own accord. One person, however, did require hospitalization. Additionally, Milton Fire Chief Jeff Murphy highlighted the importance of restraint and safety features in modern vehicles, stating to WHDH, "It's a game changer, because if you're not restrained and with the new safety features of modern vehicles, you get a lot of ejections."
Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the exact sequence of events that led to the collision.
