In Trenton earlier today, a routine warrant service turned into a brief manhunt when a suspect with a penchant for evading law enforcement decided to hit the ground running. The Trenton Police Department, upon attempting to serve a felony warrant, found themselves in a foot chase, which ultimately required the expertise of the Butler County Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit to bring to a close.
It was Deputy Davenport and his four-legged partner, K-9 RADD, who were tasked with the job of sniffing out the suspect, who thought they could outsmart law enforcement through the alchemy of snow and stillness. Interestingly, nature's camouflage wasn't quite enough to deceive the seasoned olfactory skills of RADD. According to the Butler County Sheriff's Office social media post, "the suspect, who was lying face-down in the snow attempting to hide" found that a winter blanket was an inadequate shield against a trained K-9 nose.
The fugitive-in-question was wanted on charges of Felony Aggravated Possession of Drugs, among other things, and was apparently a person of interest for multiple agencies. However, despite the suspect's best efforts to avoid capture, the takedown was described by the Butler County Sheriff's Office as happening "without incident and without a bite." This peaceful conclusion showcases a successful and professional coordination between manpower and K-9 capabilities.
"Outstanding work by Deputy Davenport and a very GOOD BOY to K-9 RADD for another successful apprehension!" the Butler County Sheriff's Office declared, with rightful adulation towards their furry asset. RADD, likely indifferent to the fanfare, merely did what comes naturally to any committed member of the K-9 unit – serve and protect. While the dog's actions may not have been driven by a sense of duty like his human counterparts, the results certainly do speak for themselves.
