A Massachusetts State Police trooper was dragged by a car in East Boston early Thursday, sending a normally quiet intersection into the middle of a serious overnight emergency. The encounter happened just before 2:30 a.m. at Meridian Street and Bennington Street. The trooper was taken to a local hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening and is expected to recover. Investigators briefly shut down the area while crews from multiple agencies worked the scene.

According to WHDH, officials said a vehicle registered in New Hampshire dragged the trooper on Meridian Street near Bennington Street just before 2:30 a.m. The trooper was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation, and the injuries were described as non-life-threatening. Officials told the station the trooper "appeared shaken up" after the encounter.

Boston EMS confirmed the person was taken to a local hospital and was expected to be okay, as reported by Boston 25 News. The outlet reported that the incident occurred directly in front of a Walgreens pharmacy and that both State Police and the Boston Police Department responded. At least three law-enforcement vehicles were seen near the intersection as officers processed the scene.
