Kettering officially has a new spot for wings and fried fish. On Monday, the city cut the ribbon on Chilli’s Wings and Fish at 1431 E. Dorothy Lane, turning the long-vacant former Burger King at the Wilmington Pike intersection into a locally run restaurant. City staff, the restaurant’s owners and local business leaders gathered for the opening as crews wrapped up exterior work and welcomed the first customers inside.
In a Facebook post, the City of Kettering gave the new restaurant an official welcome and urged residents to “skip cooking tonight.” The post included ribbon-cutting photos and a public thank-you to the owner and staff for investing in the community.
From Burger King To A Local Wings Shop
The building at 1431 E. Dorothy Lane had been empty for years before it was sold in January and received a zoning change that cleared the way for the new restaurant, according to the Dayton Daily News. Local TV coverage in May 2025 showed renovation work in progress and noted that the restaurant group behind Chilli’s was expanding from an existing Dayton location, WHIO reported.
Menu And Local Roots
The Chilli’s group already operates a Dayton location and highlights wings, tenders and fried-fish dinners on its Chilli’s Wings and Fish website. A delivery listing for the Kettering address on Postmates shows a full menu and current hours for the new store, indicating it is set up for both pickup and delivery.
What It Means For Wilmington Pike
The Chilli’s opening is the latest step in Kettering’s broader push to clear long-vacant properties and attract new investment along Wilmington Pike, with the Dayton Daily News reporting that the city is using demolition grants and planning property purchases to pave the way for redevelopment. City officials have described those moves as part of a strategy to stabilize the corridor and draw in more businesses.
The new Chilli’s Wings and Fish is located at 1431 E. Dorothy Lane. Customers can use the delivery listing to check up-to-date hours and place orders, and can see photos and the city’s announcement on the City of Kettering Facebook post.
