Jurors in Santa Clara County are now getting a front-row seat to the digital trail behind the parties prosecutors say were orchestrated by Shannon O'Connor, the so-called “Los Gatos party mom.” In court this week, they watched group text messages and cellphone footage that prosecutors argue tie her to a string of alcohol-fueled teen gatherings, including a 2020 family trip to Las Vegas capped with the familiar line: “what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas,” played alongside video of a raucous pool party.

Prosecutors in San Jose told jurors Monday that the group chat at the center of their case kicked off during that summer 2020 Vegas trip and kept going as the teens traveled, according to KRON4. The state also played cellphone videos from spring 2020 that it says show big teen gatherings at O'Connor's home and at vacation rentals.

Texts From The Las Vegas Trip

In court, prosecutors read aloud portions of the group chat they say were exchanged during the Las Vegas family trip. One message attributed to O'Connor read, “I'm down. Champagne? (let's) hit the pool with drinks, lots of drinks,” followed by a message from her son saying, “someone give me a f**king beer.” Prosecutors zeroed in on the “what happens in Vegas” text as evidence that both the parties and the digital record of them were being kept out of sight from parents and authorities, according to KRON4.

Pool Footage And Hot-Tub Allegations

The jury also saw a cellphone video that prosecutors say was recorded at a May 2020 pool party. An investigator testified that the kitchen in the house offered a clear view of the pool area, the jury heard. Court filings and testimony presented at trial allege that some sexual assaults between minors took place in a jacuzzi shown in that footage, according to reporting based on what has been displayed and described in the courtroom.

Prosecutors' Portrait Of The Parties

Deputy District Attorney Joanna Lee has portrayed the gatherings in court filings and presentations as chaotic, alcohol-soaked benders that left many freshmen vomiting, blacking out or otherwise harmed. O'Connor has pleaded not guilty. In a recorded jail call, she told PEOPLE that witnesses were given immunity "to point the finger at me,” while also acknowledging that she supplied alcohol and hosted events.

Legal Implications

O'Connor faces a grand-jury indictment totaling 63 counts, including roughly 20 felony charges related to child endangerment and dozens of misdemeanors for furnishing alcohol to minors, according to court records and reporting. Convictions on the most serious counts could add up to decades in prison and would require her to register as a sex offender under California law, based on coverage of the filings and proceedings.

The trial, which opened Dec. 1, 2025, is expected to run into March, when courtroom filings and press coverage say jury deliberations could begin. Reporting notes that the prosecution team expects the trial to conclude within the next few months. Proceedings continue in Department 39 of the Santa Clara County Hall of Justice, where jurors will keep working through text messages, videos and recorded jail calls in a case that has sharply divided parents and the town of Los Gatos.
