Butler County deputies put a public spotlight this week on a man they say is wanted in connection with a violent case, naming 27-year-old Luke Isaiah Germana as the focus of their latest “Warrant Wednesday” alert. The Sheriff’s Office says Germana is wanted on a felony strangulation charge and is considered a suspect residents should not approach. The weekly post featured his photo and a brief physical description as part of an ongoing push to enlist the public’s help in tracking down people with active warrants.
The bulletin, labeled “WARRANT WEDNESDAY,” went up on the Sheriff's Office Facebook page and includes Germana’s date of birth, height, weight, eye color and a direct phone line for the Warrants Division. The post lists his DOB as March 11, 1998, and identifies him as 27 years old.
Indictment and Allegations
Earlier this year, a Butler County grand jury returned indictments naming Luke I. Germana on several counts, including strangulation, gross sexual imposition, abduction (direct) and assault, according to the Journal‑News. Court records list a Somerville address for Germana, and the case is expected to move through Butler County courts in the coming weeks.
How to Report a Sighting
The Sheriff’s Office is clear on one point: do not confront Germana if you see him. Residents are urged to call 9-1-1 to report any sightings. The agency also shared its Warrants Division number, 513-785-1278, and said tips can be texted using the keyword “COPS” to 274637 or submitted online, according to the Sheriff's Office Facebook post. For non-emergency questions, the office listed general dispatch and records lines for public use.
What the Charges Could Mean
Ohio has upgraded strangulation to a felony offense in recent years, with higher-degree charges available depending on the circumstances. A third-degree felony can bring prison time along with other penalties, according to state lawmakers and legal summaries. The change came through legislation designed to strengthen tools for prosecuting domestic-violence cases, per the Ohio House of Representatives.
Warrant Wednesday coverage first flagged the Sheriff’s push to crowdsource leads, and the combination of a high-visibility bulletin and grand-jury indictments gives investigators more public tips to work with. If you have information about Germana, contact the Warrants Division at 513-785-1278 or call 9-1-1, and do not attempt to approach him.
