
An early morning crash today in Blendon Township left one woman dead and a man critically injured, according to deputies. The collision occurred around 5:15 a.m. at the intersection of Port Sheldon Street and 72nd Avenue. As reported by WOODTV, a northbound semi-truck failed to stop at an all-way stop and struck an eastbound GMC Sierra pickup truck. Both vehicles ended up in a nearby ditch.
A 59-year-old woman from Zeeland, who was a passenger in the pickup, was pronounced dead at the scene. The 56-year-old driver of the pickup was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
The semi-truck driver, a 54-year-old man from Butler, Kentucky, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at a local hospital.
The intersection was closed for several hours during the investigation, according to WZZM 13.
