Last night, a shooting occurred in the 5700 block of Waterman after a man reportedly threatened a woman with a gun inside a residence. The incident left the woman dead and the suspect critically injured. According to a social media post by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the confrontation began around 8 p.m. on Monday and escalated quickly.
Authorities responded to a distress call and found a man and woman involved in an argument on the porch of a residence. During the incident, the suspect reportedly shot the woman in view of the officers, prompting an exchange of gunfire between the responding officer and the suspect. The suspect was struck and critically injured, while the officer was unharmed. The suspect’s firearm was recovered at the scene.
Both the victim and the suspect were transported to a hospital, where the woman later died from her injuries. The suspect remains in critical condition. The incident is under investigation by the Force Investigation Detectives, following standard protocol for officer-involved shootings.
