Cincinnati police made a grim discovery Tuesday afternoon, finding a body tucked inside a piece of construction equipment in the city’s Carthage neighborhood, authorities said.
Officers were called to Rosewood Street near West 64th Street at about 1:30 p.m., where the construction machinery was located. Homicide detectives quickly took over the scene and are leading the investigation. As of now, investigators have not released the victim’s name or the cause of death while they continue processing the area.
According to Local 12, the body was discovered inside the construction vehicle and police have not shared any additional details. City officials have not yet identified the person found or said whether any charges are expected.
Where It Happened
The scene is along Rosewood Street in Carthage, an area that has seen more than its share of emergency responses lately. Fire crews battled a vacant-house blaze near Rosewood and West 65th Street last month, according to FOX19, and the neighborhood was the site of a fatal forklift accident in 2024, per FOX19.
A separate Hoodline piece detailed a man found fatally shot in a Carthage alley last year, adding to residents’ ongoing worries about safety in the neighborhood.
Investigation Status And Next Steps
Cincinnati police and homicide investigators are continuing to process the scene while the county coroner works to confirm the victim’s identity and determine how the person died. The Hamilton County Coroner’s Office notes that its investigators and crime lab staff handle autopsies, toxicology and identification in death cases, a process that can take several days as forensic testing is completed.
If investigators ultimately rule the death a homicide, charges would typically be brought by the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office while detectives work to identify any suspects and build a case.
Police have not released a specific tip line or any further information, Local 12 reported. Anyone with information is urged to contact Cincinnati police. This story will be updated as officials provide more details.
