A Scituate man has been indicted on a murder charge after prosecutors say a drug meetup between friends ended with one man dead and his body left in a car outside South Shore Hospital in Weymouth.

A Plymouth County grand jury on Friday charged 42-year-old Christopher Caron with murder in the death of 27-year-old Declan Perry of Portland, Maine. The indictment moves the case into Superior Court after what officials describe as months of investigation by the Plymouth County District Attorney’s office and Massachusetts State Police.

Prosecutors' Timeline

According to prosecutors, text messages show Caron and Perry arranging a mid-August meeting to buy narcotics. Perry then traveled to Scituate on Aug. 22, 2025, to meet Caron, Boston 25 News reported.

Investigators allege the two men went into Boston to purchase fentanyl and cocaine before returning to a Scituate condo unit. At some point, Perry became unresponsive inside the unit and was given multiple doses of Narcan, according to prosecutors.

From the Condo to the Hospital

From there, the scene shifted to South Shore Hospital. Prosecutors say Caron and a female witness wrapped Perry in moving blankets, bound him with duct tape, and used a wooden door as a makeshift stretcher to get him into Perry’s Honda Civic.

Neighbors allegedly helped load the car. Surveillance footage and hospital parking logs show the Honda Civic, registered to Perry, pulling up outside South Shore Hospital at about 2:07 p.m. on Aug. 23, 2025, where a unit coordinator later found Perry unresponsive in the vehicle. Video appears to show Caron going inside to alert staff and then fleeing the area, according to WCVB.

Evidence and Autopsy Findings

Investigators executing a search warrant at the Scituate residence say they found red and brown stains throughout the unit, along with a door bearing similar discoloration. At a witness’s home in Weymouth, officials say a bag contained clothing with reddish stains.

An autopsy later found deep hemorrhaging and injuries to Perry’s neck that were consistent with strangulation and blunt-force trauma, The Boston Globe reported. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has taken jurisdiction in the case.

Charges, Bail and What's Next

The Plymouth County grand jury’s indictment on a murder charge comes after Caron previously pleaded not guilty during a September arraignment. He remains held without bail, according to the district attorney’s office.

The case is now headed to Plymouth Superior Court for scheduling and pretrial proceedings. Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Sprague is slated to handle the prosecution, according to Plymouth County District Attorney's Office.

Victim and Community Response

Authorities and local reporting have identified the victim as Declan Perry, a 27-year-old chef from Portland, Maine, Bangor Daily News reported.

Family and friends have shared remembrances of Perry as investigators continue working to clarify what led to the fatal encounter between the two men.
