Brookhaven Pub & Grill, the longtime hangout on Brookhaven Circle in East Memphis, is getting a serious glow-up, but regulars do not have to give up their barstools to watch it happen. Construction is already underway inside and out, and management says the neighborhood spot will stay open while crews revamp the interior and patio ahead of a planned reveal in time for the fall football season.

What’s Changing At Brookhaven

According to Brookhaven Pub & Grill, the renovation is a two-part plan led by S. Berry Jones Architects. Phase one is expected to last roughly four to six weeks and focuses on an underused game room, which will be pushed out by about six feet, dressed up with floor-to-ceiling design elements, and opened up with new entry points from both the dining room and the back patio.

Phase two is set to kick off after college basketball season wraps in early April and will require a temporary closure of the main dining room. During that stretch, crews will vault the ceiling and install a new HVAC system, with that leg of the project expected to run about 16 weeks. Throughout the work, the pub says it plans to keep serving customers in the expanded game room and on its combination of covered and uncovered patios.

Renderings And Who’s Behind It

Conceptual renderings have been circulated to local media, and as reported by the Memphis Business Journal, the overhaul is being steered by the Spell Restaurant Group, the father-daughter ownership team behind Brookhaven Pub. The outlet's coverage highlights drawings that open the interior more directly to the patio and rework the layout so it can handle private events while still keeping dedicated space for live music and wall-to-wall sports watching.

The project tracks with a wider move among long-running Memphis spots that are refreshing their look and infrastructure without sacrificing their neighborhood, come-as-you-are vibe.

What It Means For East Memphis

Brookhaven first opened in 2002 and has spent more than two decades cementing its status as a go-to neighborhood fixture, according to Brookhaven Pub & Grill. Its reputation as a watch-party hub and live-music venue is backed up by local sports ties, including game day giveaways and events through a partnership with University of Memphis Athletics.

Ownership says the goal is to keep the familiar feel that regulars know while making the space more adaptable for private events and more comfortable year-round. A vaulted dining room and upgraded HVAC system are among the key changes aimed at pulling that off.
