A DeKalb County school bus crashed Thursday morning on Clairmont Road and came to rest on an embankment near Century Boulevard, turning the north DeKalb commute into a mess. Emergency crews swarmed the scene while officers diverted drivers around the wreck. Officials had not yet confirmed whether any students were on board or if anyone was injured.
The Georgia Department of Transportation’s 511 cameras showed the bus perched up an embankment just north of Century Boulevard. Drivers can still pull up live camera views and traffic event listings for the area through 511GA.
FOX 5 Atlanta crews on the ground reported an ambulance in a nearby parking lot and at least two other school buses positioned close to the crash. According to the station, southbound traffic on Clairmont was being pushed across the center turn lane into the far-left northbound lane, while northbound drivers were squeezed into a single lane. Those makeshift detours led to long, slow-moving backups through the morning rush. FOX 5 said it had contacted DeKalb County school officials and police for more details.
