A Harvey man is behind bars after an early morning shooting in Marrero left a 39-year-old man wounded and in the hospital in stable condition. Deputies identified the suspect as 31-year-old Demond Poole of Harvey and say they spotted him fleeing the scene, later recovering a firearm. Poole was booked on multiple felony counts and is being held on more than $360,000 in bond.
Early-morning shooting reported near Field and Eiseman
Deputies were called out around 4:30 a.m. Monday to the area near Field Street and Eiseman Avenue, according to NOLA. The outlet reports the 39-year-old victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was driven to a hospital in stable condition, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office said.
Booking and charges
The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office inmate roster lists Poole as booked on attempted first degree murder, being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm and resisting an officer. His bond totals $360,500, and the individual bond amounts shown in the booking record add up to that total.
Authorities say suspect dropped a gun while fleeing
Deputies told investigators they saw Poole running from the area while carrying a gun. He dropped the weapon while fleeing and was apprehended in the 6100 block of the Westbank Expressway, about a block from the shooting scene, as reported by NOLA. Authorities said the firearm was recovered at the scene.

Authorities have not released a motive and say the investigation is ongoing. Poole remains in custody pending further proceedings.
