
Authorities in Crittenden County say a domestic dispute turned deadly on Monday, ending with a woman fatally shot, her boyfriend under arrest, and three children caught in the middle inside the home.
The arrest and charges
Deputies arrested 41-year-old Demetric Nering on Monday after spotting activity leaving the property where the shooting occurred. According to FOX13 Memphis, Nering has been charged with first-degree murder, as well as possession of drugs and firearms. A judge set his bond at $1,000,000, the outlet reports.
Scene and response
The shooting happened at Harvard Yard, 28 Grange Road, where deputies and emergency crews found the victim, identified as 35-year-old Shuntrail King. First responders performed life-saving measures at the scene.
Per the Crittenden County Sheriff's Office, officers saw a Chevrolet Tahoe backing out of the driveway as they arrived and stopped the vehicle as part of their response. King was transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital‑Crittenden, where she was pronounced dead.
Children at the scene
FOX13 Memphis reports that three children were inside the home when the shooting occurred. Deputies and medical responders evaluated them at the scene, and they were not listed with life-threatening injuries. According to the outlet, medical personnel attempted resuscitation on King before she was taken to the hospital.
