Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport is going all in on lounging. CVG's new Escape Lounge is set to open to travelers on April 1, 2026, bringing a much larger, redesigned space to Concourse B. The buildout will take over from the smaller Escape Lounge that has been operating since 2019, with that original location briefly shifting to grab-and-go service before closing at the end of March. Airport leaders and the lounge operator say the new footprint is intended to give passengers more room to work, eat and unwind before they board.
Opening timeline and switch from the old lounge
The Escape Lounges booking page lists April 1 as opening day for the new Concourse B space and notes that the current lounge will run as a grab-and-go operation from March 26 through March 31, then close on March 31. The operator also indicates that Priority Pass customers can pre-book access and that walk-up entry will be available once the new lounge is up and running. The tight schedule is designed to keep downtime for travelers as limited as possible during the handoff.
Size, price tag and themed zones
According to a CVG press release, the project is a roughly $7.4 million renovation that converts about 6,767 square feet of mezzanine space into the new lounge, which is described as more than four times the size of the 2019-era lounge it replaces. The release highlights four themed areas inside the lounge: Bluegrass Backstage, Riverbank Retreat, Queen City Oasis and the Maker’s Mark Workshop. Airport officials say the expanded layout is meant to help the terminal keep up with rising passenger volumes.
Local brews, a horseshoe bar and a big chef’s table
The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that the new lounge will feature a freestanding horseshoe-shaped bar, with local beers such as Rhinegeist on tap. The paper also notes that the operator is touting what it calls its largest chef’s table, an exclusive dining area aimed at small groups. Together, those additions are intended to blend a social bar atmosphere with a more curated, sit-down dining option.
Who gets in and what they pay
Escape Lounges lists day passes starting at about $35 per person, with a note that walk-up prices may run higher. Access is available through pre-booking, cardholder perks and membership programs. The operator promotes complimentary hot and cold food served throughout the day, along with fast Wi-Fi and plenty of charging points. Priority Pass members are able to pre-book, and some premium credit cards may continue to include entry on eligible trips.
Why CVG is scaling up
In its press materials, CVG reports that the airport handled roughly 8.7 million passengers in 2023, which it describes as about a 15 percent jump compared with 2022. The expanded lounge is framed as part of a broader push to improve the customer experience as traffic grows. The airport points to its route network and cargo activity as key contributors to that growth and says the larger lounge is expected to help distribute travelers more evenly across Concourse B and ease peak-time congestion.
The Cincinnati Enquirer also reports that airport officials planned a media preview and ribbon cutting in April, with public event dates to be announced by the airport. Travelers eyeing a visit on April 1 are advised to keep an eye on the operator’s channels for access details and on the airport’s newsroom for any event updates.
