A pre-dawn shooting inside the Forest Houses public housing complex in Morrisania left a 27-year-old man dead on Friday, and police are now searching for three suspects seen bolting from the building.
Officers responding to a 911 call found the victim unconscious inside an apartment at the NYCHA development and suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. He was taken by EMS to Lincoln Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, according to initial reports. Detectives say the homicide investigation is active and officers are canvassing the development for witnesses and any available surveillance video.
amNY reports that the shooting happened around 6:35 a.m. on March 6 inside a Forest Houses building at 765 East 165th St. Officers from the 42nd Precinct and NYPD Public Service Area 7 responded to the scene. Police told the outlet that three suspects described as wearing all black were spotted fleeing the building and remain at large. No arrests have been made.
