Atlanta police are investigating a deadly shooting in northwest Atlanta that left one person dead on Tuesday. Officers responded to the area near the intersection of Cameron M. Alexander Boulevard NW and Elm Street NW, where they found the victim and called in homicide detectives. Police have not released identifying information about the victim or any description of a suspect.
Investigators were canvassing the area for witnesses and reviewing nearby surveillance footage as the probe continues, according to 11Alive.

The shooting unfolded in a northwest Atlanta corridor a few miles from downtown that has struggled with gun violence in recent years. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has reported that homicides in the city have climbed for several years, and community leaders along with police have repeatedly highlighted concerns about violence in neighborhoods on the city’s northwest side.
