Investigators say officers were called to the 9700 block of East Hampden Avenue shortly after 2 a.m., where they found an adult male victim. Detectives later identified three suspects and made arrests after following tips and video leads, according to CBS Colorado. The station reports that detectives credited a Crime Stoppers tip, license-plate-reader hits and surveillance footage for helping track down the men. Authorities have said the confrontation began when one woman slapped another woman who was with Jones, and the three suspects then became involved in the scuffle outside the club.

Police say surveillance video shows three men punching and kicking Jones, putting him in a chokehold while one suspect struck him in the head several times, according to The Denver Post. Jones was taken to HCA HealthOne Swedish, where he was pronounced dead about half an hour after officers found him. The Denver Office of the Medical Examiner later ruled that his death was caused by a fractured skull and brain swelling due to blunt-force trauma, the Post reports.

Denver police arrested Derek Wafford, 39, Demetrius Davis, 37, and Gregory Manard, 31, on suspicion of second-degree murder, authorities said as the investigation unfolded. All three remain the focus of an active homicide investigation.

As reported by The Denver Post, Davis and Manard are being held in custody on $100,000 bail each, while Wafford was released on a $100,000 bond. Wafford is also facing a misdemeanor assault charge. The Post says Manard is scheduled to appear in court on April 17 and Davis on June 15.
