An early-morning crash on one of Madisonville's main corridors left a man dead Saturday, Cincinnati police said.
Officers were called to the intersection of Madison Road and Medpace Way at about 12:50 a.m. for a two-car collision. Police said two vehicles had hit head-on and one person had been ejected from a vehicle. Emergency crews found the man unconscious in the roadway and he was later declared dead at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle was not reported injured.
Cincinnati police told WLWT that the crash happened around 12:50 a.m. at Madison Road and Medpace Way and that crews found the victim in the road unconscious before he was pronounced dead. The station reports the driver of the second vehicle was not injured and that the cause of the collision remains under investigation.
Where it happened
The collision occurred on a stretch of Madison Road that runs past Medpace's Madison Square campus, an area that has seen rising development and traffic in recent years. Neighbors have raised concerns about congestion and cut-throughs tied to the campus and a planned parking garage, as reported by WCPO. City officials have previously agreed to traffic improvements at nearby intersections to help handle campus volumes.
Investigation ongoing
Police said they have not released the victim's name and that the investigation is ongoing, according to WLWT. Authorities did not immediately say whether impairment, speed or other factors contributed to the collision.
Neighborhood context
Madison Road has been the scene of other recent public-safety incidents, including a reported late-night shooting earlier this month that drew a heavy police response, according to late-night gunfire reports. Residents and community groups have been pressing city officials for traffic-calming and clearer communication as the Medpace campus grows.
