One person was shot and killed late Saturday in Fairview Heights, turning the 100 block of Bountiful Drive into an overnight crime scene as officers taped off the area and worked through the night. First responders pronounced the victim dead at the scene, and officers located a suspect several blocks away, taking that person into custody without incident.
According to KSDK, the Fairview Heights Police Department said the victim and the suspect knew each other, and officers recovered a firearm at the scene. Multiple law-enforcement agencies were called in to help as detectives combed Bountiful Drive for evidence, and police said the investigation was still active on Sunday morning. The department also noted that the victim’s name would not be released until family members had been notified.
