
A 34-year-old Ferguson woman was killed in an overnight crash at West Florissant and Emerson avenues, along the edge of Calvary Cemetery in north St. Louis. The victim was later identified as Danyelle L. Conner, 34, of Ferguson. At least one other person was taken to a hospital with injuries, and police stayed at the intersection in the Walnut Park East neighborhood as they worked through the early-morning investigation.
According to FOX 2, the collision happened overnight at the intersection of West Florissant and Emerson, where emergency crews responded and later identified Conner as the woman who died. Investigators at the scene had not yet determined what caused the crash as they processed the wreckage.
Where the crash happened
The intersection sits along the border of Calvary Cemetery in north St. Louis City, inside the Walnut Park East neighborhood. The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department has previously handled deadly crashes in this area and sometimes calls in its accident reconstruction team for the most serious wrecks, with the department’s public reports listing similar incidents nearby.
Safety concerns along West Florissant
Neighbors and community groups have been warning for years that this stretch of West Florissant is a magnet for high-speed crashes, pushing for tougher enforcement and traffic-calming measures.
