A quiet Sunday afternoon at a DeKalb County gas station erupted into violence when a man was shot several times outside the business and rushed to a hospital, according to county police. Officers arrived shortly after the gunfire, and detectives began sorting through what led up to the attack. According to WSB-TV, DeKalb County Police were called to the scene at about 4:33 p.m. on March 8. The outlet reports the man went to a hospital as detectives opened an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting, while police say they still do not have an update on his condition.
Police Seek Witnesses

Per DeKalb County, the Tip411 platform allows residents to communicate back and forth with detectives without revealing their identities, which police say can be crucial when witnesses are hesitant to speak up.
Not an Isolated Incident
This shooting is part of a troubling pattern that has put gas stations in DeKalb under an uncomfortable spotlight. FOX 5 Atlanta reported that on March 6, a man was shot multiple times at a Texaco on Candler Road and was left in critical condition. In a separate case earlier this year, prosecutors pursued charges after an argument at another gas station escalated and a toddler was wounded, according to local reporting.
Those incidents have helped fuel a renewed push for residents to use the county’s anonymous tipline, especially when they have information that could help detectives close cases.
In the March 8 shooting, DeKalb police have not yet released a motive or any description of a suspect. Detectives are asking anyone who witnessed the gunfire or who has surveillance footage from the area to share it through the department’s tip channels so they can move the investigation forward.
