Sips Dirty Soda is rolling into downtown Covington, moving into the 109 North Main Street storefront that locals know as Wooty's Coffee Roastery. Renovation work kicked off on Monday inside the space, and Wooty's has told customers it plans to keep serving coffee once Sips opens its doors. There is no official opening date yet, but neighbors have already spotted painters and contractors working behind the front windows.
According to What Now, Wooty's shared on Facebook that its North Main shop will be converted into a Sips Dirty Soda location. The reported plans include a full repaint, new interior walls, and a relocated counter, turning the long-time coffee spot into a hybrid home for both espresso and dirty soda. Wooty's also reassured followers that its coffee service will continue alongside the new drinks.
From Bartlett Roots To A Covington Landing
Sips already runs a shop in Bartlett at 2810 Bartlett Road, and that first store helped jump-start the brand's push across the Memphis metro area. The Bartlett debut and the owners' early expansion plans were covered by The Daily Memphian last year.
The People Behind The Cups
The Covington location is being opened by the same team that launched Bartlett: Amber and Matt Nuccio, Nick and Nicole Spangenberg, and Bailey Brady. They have told local outlets they are also working toward a shop in Millington and an early franchise in Atoka. As What Now notes, the owners credit their Bartlett regulars for helping the concept catch on quickly.
Why Dirty Soda Keeps Spreading
Dirty soda is essentially a fountain soda base that gets dressed up with flavored syrups, creamers, and toppings. What started as a regional curiosity has turned into a national trend, fueled by social media buzz and rapid franchise growth. Health and nutrition outlets have pointed out that the drinks can be loaded with sugar and calories, and Food Network has offered tips on how to order lower-sugar options at soda shops.
Covington residents who want to track the progress can keep an eye on Wooty's social media accounts for renovation updates. The Covington–Tipton County Chamber currently lists Wooty's at 109 North Main Street. This story will be updated once the owners announce an official opening date for Sips Dirty Soda on Main Street.
