A midday hit-and-run on the edge of Phoenix and Glendale has left a woman fighting for her life and detectives scrambling to track down the driver who took off.
Just before noon Friday, first responders were called out to a collision near the city border. They found a woman with life-threatening injuries and rushed her to a hospital, while the driver involved had already fled the scene.
Crash Near 43rd and Orangewood
The crash happened in the area of 43rd Avenue and Orangewood Avenue, just south of Northern Avenue, according to AZFamily. Police and fire crews arrived to find the woman critically hurt and moved quickly to get her to a nearby medical center.
Authorities Seek Tips
Investigators are now leaning on the public for help. Anyone with information about the crash is urged to contact Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS or 480-TESTIGO for Spanish speakers. Tips can also be sent in online or through the organization's app. Silent Witness emphasizes that tipsters can remain anonymous and that rewards are available in qualifying cases.

Detectives are working to piece together what led up to the collision and to identify the driver, but police have not yet released a description of the vehicle involved, AZFamily reports. The case remains active, with investigators continuing follow-up interviews and gathering evidence.

The area around 43rd Avenue and Orangewood has seen serious crashes before. Phoenix Police investigated a deadly head-on collision in April 2025 at nearly the same spot, according to a department media advisory. Phoenix Police noted that determining the causes in such cases can take time while toxicology results and other evidence are processed.
