A 35-year-old Farmington man was killed Tuesday in a violent two-vehicle crash on Flat River Road near Fairgrounds Drive, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The wreck left both vehicles mangled and traffic in the area briefly at a standstill.
Troopers Say Chevy Crossed Center Line Before Head-On Impact
State troopers report that a Chevrolet Cruze crossed the center line and slammed into the front of a Dodge Journey, forcing the Dodge off the right side of the roadway. The crash happened shortly after 12:00 p.m., and the driver of the Chevrolet was pronounced dead at the scene just after 12:30 p.m., according to investigators. Patrol personnel responded and launched an active investigation, according to FOX 2.
Teen Driver Seriously Hurt, Both Vehicles Totaled
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said both vehicles were totaled and later towed from the scene. The Dodge driver, an 18-year-old woman from Bonne Terre, was taken to a hospital in south St. Louis County with serious injuries. Troopers noted that the Dodge driver was wearing her seat belt, while the Chevrolet driver was not, according to the patrol's report. No names or possible charges have been released as the investigation continues, FOX 2 reported.
Investigation Ongoing as Officials Withhold Victim’s Name
The Missouri State Highway Patrol is leading the inquiry and requested help from local agencies to clear the roadway. The county coroner's office will handle notifying family members and formally identifying the deceased. Officials say additional details will be released when they are available.
