Honolulu Freight Services has wrapped up a roughly $32 million overhaul that pulls several of its Oʻahu warehouse operations into one place: a renovated headquarters at 911 Middle Street in Kalihi. The former Love's Bakery plant has been reworked into a 92,400-square-foot logistics hub with temperature-controlled storage and office space, giving the longtime freight hauler a far more centralized base.
Consolidation completed
According to Pacific Business News, Honolulu Freight Services has completed the $32 million warehouse consolidation and finished renovations on the Kalihi building to serve as its new headquarters. The outlet reports the company is now preparing to move additional operations into the Middle Street facility as it centralizes island freight handling under one roof.
From Love's Bakery to a logistics hub
The old Love's Bakery headquarters at 911 Middle Street sits on about three acres and totals roughly 92,400 square feet, as Spectrum News Hawaii reported when Honolulu Freight purchased the property in October 2022. A Colliers summary, cited by Hawai'i Public Radio, pegged the sale price at about $32 million and listed the deal among Oʻahu’s largest commercial transactions that year.
Why this matters for Oʻahu supply chains
Company executives told Pacific Business News that the new centralized facility is expected to boost temperature-controlled shipping capacity, give local businesses more options for short-term warehouse storage and tighten up end-to-end service across the island. Pulling handling and storage into the Kalihi site is designed to cut redundant moves around Oʻahu and make it easier to stage perishable and time-sensitive freight where it actually needs to be.
Next steps and local impact
Renovations were completed as part of the consolidation, and Spectrum News Hawaii reported that about 220 workers are expected to relocate to the Middle Street site once the build-out is fully finished. Spectrum also noted the company plans to keep operations at its other Oʻahu locations and its Maui warehouse, using the new Kalihi hub as its primary logistics base rather than a total replacement.
