A Tuesday night walk in southwest Houston ended with a teenager in the hospital after gunfire erupted along a residential stretch of Glenmont Drive. Houston police said a 17-year-old boy was walking near the intersection of Renwick Drive and Glenmont Drive when he heard multiple shots ring out. He was hit once in the back and took off running down Glenmont, looking for anyone who could help, per Click2Houston.
Officers were called to the 5800 block of Glenmont Drive at about 8:48 p.m. Neighbors told investigators they heard roughly 10 gunshots in the area. A nearby resident ultimately flagged down officers, and the teen was taken to a hospital, where he was listed in stable condition, according to Click2Houston.
Glenmont corridor has seen recent violence
The Glenmont and Renwick corridor has been no stranger to trouble lately. In December, a man was found fatally shot at 5917 Glenmont Drive, a killing that Hoodline covered that killing in a piece titled "Glenmont Horror."
Investigators are asking for tips
So far, detectives have not released any suspect description or possible motive and say they are still working to figure out what sparked the latest shooting, according to Click2Houston. Police are urging anyone who witnessed the gunfire or has security or cellphone video from the area to come forward.
