A 35-year-old man was shot multiple times inside a business on Greens Road on Sunday, then rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to Houston police. The killing has now become the focus of a homicide investigation.
Officers were called to 1177 Greens Road, where they found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds, MyTexasDaily reported, citing the Houston Police Department. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the man to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. HPD homicide detectives are leading the case and said there are no known suspects at this time. The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences is handling next-of-kin notification.
Police seek witnesses
The Houston Police Department is urging anyone with information about the shooting to contact its Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or reach out to Crime Stoppers of Houston at 713-222-TIPS (8477). Investigators are particularly interested in hearing from people who may have video, photos, or other evidence from the scene to help piece together what happened.
Greens Road corridor context
The Greens Road corridor and nearby Greenspoint area have been under a public safety microscope in recent months. The stretch has seen several high-profile incidents, including a deadly unsanctioned car meet in the 200 block of Greens Road earlier this month, according to ABC13. Police say they are often called to deal with crowds and car meets in the area as part of broader efforts to tamp down violent crime.
Authorities have not released the victim's name, pending notification of family, and no arrests have been announced, MyTexasDaily reports. Anyone with information is urged to contact HPD's Homicide Division or Crime Stoppers as detectives continue their active investigation.
