A man was rushed to the hospital Tuesday night after a shooting on Commercial Street in Brockton, just steps from the city’s police headquarters and a busy bus stop.
Police say a ShotSpotter alert drew officers to the BAT bus stop on Commercial Street just before 8 p.m. Responding officers found a man suffering from gunshot wounds and got him to a nearby hospital. A suspect fled the scene but was tracked down and taken into custody a short time later near Middle Street, according to Boston 25 News.

In a statement to Boston 25 News, a Brockton police spokesperson tried to calm nerves, saying, “At this time, there is no ongoing threat to the public,” while noting that “the investigation remains active and ongoing.” Police have not released the victim’s condition or the suspect’s identity.
