Once again, Lee Street in southwest Atlanta turned into a crime scene Monday night, after two people were shot near the intersection of Lee Street and Donnelly Avenue, according to Atlanta police. First responders found both victims conscious and breathing and took them to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Atlanta News First reported that officers described the victims as "alert, conscious and breathing" at the scene. The station added that investigators were still working the area and had not released additional information.
Area Has Seen Recent Shootings
The stretch around Lee Street and Donnelly Avenue has been no stranger to gunfire in recent months. A February shooting that left a man with several gunshot wounds near Tucker Avenue and Lee Street was reported by FOX 5 Atlanta, underscoring ongoing public-safety concerns in southwest Atlanta.
Police: Investigation Ongoing
Detectives with the Atlanta Police Department's Aggravated Assault Unit are handling the latest investigation, and officers have not yet released suspect information or a possible motive. Atlanta Police Department records show a June 22, 2025 double shooting at 1294 Donnelly Avenue SW in which two people were also found alert and breathing. APD is asking anyone with information or video from the area to contact its tip line.
