A multi-county chase on Interstate 75 came to a sudden stop in Loudon County on Thursday when law enforcement boxed in a vehicle just past Exit 60 and hauled two men into custody, according to the Loudon County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies and local officers stopped the vehicle on the southbound side of the interstate. Loudon County deputies detained one man while the Sweetwater Police Department took the other into custody, and both are being held for the Knox County Sheriff's Office, officials said.

According to WBIR, Loudon County deputies took over the chase on I-75 and made the arrests shortly after Exit 60. The station reported there were no immediate reports of injuries and that both men were being held on behalf of Knox County authorities while booking continued.

"The chase began out of Knox County," Loudon County spokesperson Cody Bengel told WBIR, adding that deputies followed the vehicle west into Loudon before it moved through Monroe County. Officials did not immediately release the suspects' names or any formal charges.

Busy Stretch Of Highway Sees More Trouble

The pursuit ended on the southbound side of I-75 just past Exit 60, a stretch of roadway that has already seen its share of problems this winter and early spring. Recent I-75 closures and crashes in Loudon County have snarled traffic, including a semi-truck fire that closed lanes in late January.

What Comes Next For The Two Men

The men detained after the chase were turned over to Knox County for processing and will appear in the county's booking logs once formal charges are filed. The Knox County Sheriff's Office maintains detainee information and arrest records on its website for anyone tracking updates in the case.
