Authorities say a multi-agency manhunt in Anderson County ended Thursday with a K-9 takedown, bringing a fugitive wanted in both Georgia and Tennessee into custody after a pair of fast-moving pursuits and a dash into the woods.
Deputies reported that the suspect, identified as Robert Clyde Summerall, tried to shake law enforcement in two separate vehicle chases before ditching a car and bolting on foot into a wooded area. A police dog ultimately ran him down, and officials said Summerall was treated for a dog bite before he was taken to the county jail.
As reported by WBIR, the Anderson County Sheriff's Office said Summerall was wanted on multiple felony charges in Georgia and Tennessee. WBIR also notes that officers executed a search warrant at a property on Raccoon Valley Road as part of the effort to locate him.
How deputies tracked him down
According to the Anderson County Sheriff's Office, Corporal James Presson and K-9 Bolo picked up the chase after Summerall bailed out of the vehicle and took off on foot. The sheriff's office said Bolo caught up with him in the woods, biting and holding him until deputies moved in. Officials said Summerall received medical attention for the bite before being transported and booked into jail.

The sheriff's office said the operation pulled in backup from the Knox County Sheriff's Office, the 7th Judicial District Crime Task Force, and the Anderson County SWAT team, according to WBIR. Those units helped lock down the area, assist with tracking, and provide tactical support while deputies closed in.

Authorities said Summerall will be booked on his outstanding warrants, along with any additional charges tied to the pursuits and arrest, per the Anderson County Sheriff's Office.
