
A routine Friday night grocery run turned chaotic in Maineville when gunfire broke out at the Kroger on State Route 48, leaving two people injured, police said. Hamilton Township officers rushed to the busy shopping spot, locked it down and worked into the night while telling drivers and shoppers to steer clear of the area as nearby roads were shut down.
Our officers are investigating a shooting that occurred at the Kroger on SR 48. At this time there is no threat to the public. It is a fluid situation. Kroger is closed for the remainder of the evening. Roads in the area are also closed.

Police Say No Ongoing Threat As Scene Locked Down
Hamilton Township Police confirmed the response in a social media post, saying "there is no threat to the public" and calling it a "fluid" situation while officers continued to investigate, per Hamilton Township Police. The post also noted that the Kroger would remain closed for the rest of the evening and that roads in the area were shut down while investigators worked the scene.

Two people were being treated for injuries after the shooting, though officials did not immediately release how serious those injuries were or clarify whether the gunfire happened inside the store or outside in the parking lot, as reported by WLWT. Investigators remained on scene Friday night processing evidence and interviewing witnesses, WLWT reported.

The Kroger involved appears to be the chain's Maineville Marketplace on South State Route 48. Kroger's store page lists the location at 5705 S State Route 48. The store was closed for the night while police carried out their investigation.
