Noblesville’s east side is getting a massive new Kroger Marketplace, and the grocery giant is wasting no time building up its roster. Hiring is officially underway for the larger-format store, with the company saying it needs hundreds of workers before doors open this summer along the booming 146th Street corridor.

Kroger is ramping up with a mix of open interviews and online applications to fill everything from entry-level clerk positions to department leadership roles. The grocer expects the new Marketplace to be a major employer in the area once it is fully staffed.

According to WISH-TV, the hiring team is looking to fill more than 250 positions and will hold its first round of open interviews on Saturday at the Fishers Kroger at East 116th Street and Cumberland Road from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The station reports that hourly clerks will start at $16.05 an hour, with many entry-level roles requiring no prior experience. At the same time, Kroger is also recruiting experienced candidates to lead key departments. In a statement cited by the outlet, company spokesperson Mike Goodwin called associates "the heart of our business" as the chain gears up for the new store.

Where the store will be

Local planning coverage shows the new Marketplace is slated for the northeast corner of East 146th Street and Howe Road in Noblesville, a high-visibility site that developers and city officials have tagged for mixed-use retail and housing. Indianapolis Business Journal reported that the Kroger project is part of a broader development known as Star Brick Village and will open as a full Marketplace-format store. That larger footprint means expanded departments and services compared with smaller Kroger locations.

Kroger's Central Division has been signaling big spending in the region. Local reporting puts the division's commitments at roughly $200 million for new construction and remodels this year, with each Marketplace project carrying an estimated $40 million price tag. Hamilton County Television notes the projects are expected to create new jobs and that Kroger offers education incentives for associates, including career-long tuition reimbursement programs.

How to apply

Job seekers can apply online through Kroger Family Careers or head to the March 28 open interview session in Fishers, according to local reporting. WISH-TV reports that openings span every department and notes that product discounts and compensation plans are among the typical perks for associates. Candidates are encouraged to bring a résumé or be ready to complete an application onsite for immediate consideration.

What to expect as an associate

For a preview of how many jobs a Marketplace store can generate, Noblesville residents can look a few miles south. When Kroger opened its new Fishers Marketplace in early 2025, that store hired roughly 305 associates. The Reporter and other local outlets covered the ribbon-cutting and confirmed both the near-$40 million investment and staffing levels. The Noblesville Marketplace is expected to land in a similar range as the 146th Street corridor continues to build out.

Kroger’s Noblesville hiring push is shaping up to be one of the region’s largest retail recruiting efforts this spring. Candidates who cannot make the in-person event are urged to keep an eye on the Kroger careers page for new postings and updates on the store’s projected June opening.
