A meet-up to "settle a dispute" at Granger Park reportedly spiraled into a full-on brawl behind the running track on March 7, leaving one teen with a fractured nose, three others with facial bruises and five people in handcuffs, according to LaGrange police.
Investigators say the fight was captured on a cellphone and that the circulating video helped them identify the people involved. Officers ultimately arrested a LaGrange woman and four teenagers in connection with the clash.
Police detail the woman's role
As reported by Atlanta News First, the adult arrested was identified as 33-year-old Brittany Adams. Authorities say Adams faces one count of first-degree cruelty to children, three counts of third-degree cruelty to children, three counts of battery and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Police allege she drove two teens to the park for the confrontation and physically joined the fight, accusing her of stomping on two juveniles' faces and striking two other juveniles with her cellphone.
Teens charged with affray
LaGrange police charged four teens with affray, a public-order offense tied to fighting in a way that disturbs others. The group includes a 15-year-old, a 17-year-old and two 16-year-olds.
Investigators say the 17-year-old had been in a weeks-long dispute with one of the 16-year-olds and that the teens arranged the park meet-up to settle the argument. According to police, three juveniles were treated for bruising and the 17-year-old sustained a fractured nose.
