Lakeview is about to get its own cure for a long day: Apothecary Cocktail Lounge, a pharmacy-inspired craft cocktail bar, is set to debut in May at 3242 N. Clark Street. The concept comes from practicing pharmacist Eric Reid, who treats cocktails like carefully mixed remedies and wants the experience to feel intentional, calming, and, yes, a little therapeutic. Inside, guests can expect a compact, quietly stylish room with warm wood, exposed brick, and a long banquette built for lingering conversation.
As reported by What Now, Reid and beverage director Zachary Heller have sorted the cocktail list into eight tongue-in-cheek medicinal categories, including Anxiolytic, Digestif, Nootropic, and Euphoric. Signature "prescriptions" will include drinks like “Euca-lapse Now” and “Aqua Combusta,” with spirits drawn from local and small-batch producers, as well as brands owned by women, LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs, and minority makers.
Menu and signature prescriptions
Online, Apothecary breaks its offerings into "Signature Prescriptions," classic "Remedies" and spirit-free elixirs, with highballs and drinks featuring fermented elements lined up for the spring and summer season. Recipes for standouts such as "Euca-lapse Now" (aged rum, amaro delle sirene, eucalyptus) and "Aqua Combusta" are already listed on the bar's menus page, which also details the nonalcoholic program, according to Apothecary.
Food program and desserts
Chef Jacquelyn Lord is set to run an elevated bar menu built to play nicely with the cocktails, with small plates and more substantial bites meant to keep the night going. Menu highlights reported by What Now include sesame tuna with shiso and grapefruit, a duck confit flatbread with ricotta and date jam, and chicken-fried oyster mushrooms with housemade honey mustard. For dessert, guests can expect sweets like passionfruit Basque cheesecake and blood-orange olive oil cake.
Where and when
Apothecary is scheduled to open at 3242 N. Clark St. in Lakeview, with plans for neighborhood-friendly hours: Sunday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to midnight and Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. Reservations are currently listed as "Coming Soon" on the bar's website, and additional details on maps, hours and staffing are available via Apothecary.
The pharmacist-driven vision gives this Lakeview newcomer a specific angle, mixing precision, care and a bit of playful theater. It is likely to catch the eye of guests hunting for layered, seasonal cocktails alongside a serious zero-proof lineup. Anyone curious about soft-opening dates and when reservations go live will want to keep an eye on the bar's site and social feeds as the full May launch approaches.
