
A 19-year-old was shot and killed late Thursday inside Orchard Hall on the Lane College campus in Jackson, turning an ordinary weeknight in the dorm into an active crime scene, police say. Officers rushed to the residence hall around 11 p.m., found the victim with a gunshot wound, and had them transported to a hospital, where they were later pronounced dead. Investigators say the shooting appears to be an isolated incident, and no other students were hurt.
According to FOX13 Memphis, Jackson Police Department officers found the 19-year-old inside Orchard Hall around 11 p.m. and had the victim taken to a nearby hospital, where they died from their injuries. Police detained one person in connection with the shooting and told reporters they are not looking for any additional suspects. The department's Major Crimes unit remained on campus as detectives processed the scene inside the dorm.
