A late-night shooting near Thunderbird Hospital in Glendale briefly choked off access to one of the facility's emergency-room entrances Wednesday, as police scrambled to the scene and rushed a wounded man to the hospital.

Glendale police were called to the area of 43rd Avenue and Thunderbird Road at about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, where officers found a man who had been shot and took him to Thunderbird Hospital for treatment, according to 12 News. Investigators have not said what led up to the gunfire or how badly the man was hurt.
In the aftermath, the hospital temporarily shut its west emergency entrance, while the south entrance remained open to patients, per 12 News.
