Two people were stabbed Monday night in Downtown Commons, the mixed-use shopping and entertainment plaza better known as DOCO in downtown Sacramento. Officers found the victims in an alley near Golden 1 Center and Fourth Street, and both were taken to a nearby hospital. Police have not released the victims’ conditions and say they still have no description of a suspect.
Sacramento police told KCRA they responded to the 400 block of K Street just before 9:45 p.m. Monday and located the two victims there. The station described the situation as a developing incident and reported that investigators were working the scene late into the night. As of that update, authorities had not released further details about the victims or any suspect.
Where This Happened
DOCO, short for Downtown Commons, is a pedestrian plaza and retail complex along K Street next to the Golden 1 Center. The complex is listed at 405 K Street and draws heavy foot traffic on event nights, according to Wikipedia. That steady mix of nightlife and big crowds is one reason police and businesses keep a close eye on this block whenever violence breaks out.
Investigation and Tips
Sacramento police say detectives are investigating and that officers stayed at the scene as they followed up with witnesses and collected evidence. The department routinely asks anyone with information or video to contact its dispatch center at (916) 808-5471 or submit anonymous tips through the P3 Tips app, according to a Sacramento Police Department news release. At this stage, police have not released any description of a suspect.
Context: K Street Safety
DOCO and the 400 block of K Street have shown up repeatedly in local crime data. A KCRA 3 Investigates review found that stretch among the top locations for reported batteries and assaults in recent years, prompting business owners and city officials to push for more cameras and more visible patrols. Coverage of a March 2025 DOCO shooting that injured two teenagers highlighted the plaza’s history as a flashpoint. City and venue leaders have pointed to camera networks and targeted patrols as key tools they rely on when late-night trouble flares up.
The investigation into Monday night’s stabbings remains active. According to the Sacramento Police Department’s news releases, anyone with tips or video is asked to call (916) 808-5471 or submit an anonymous report through the P3 Tips app.
