Two masked men armed with a handgun robbed a person near 16 Pleasant St in Dracut on Friday evening, according to police, striking the victim in the back of the head with a blunt object before taking personal items and fleeing. One of the suspects displayed a handgun, and the pair jumped into a silver Ford Explorer and drove toward Lowell. Police have not announced any arrests.
Officers say they were called to the area at about 6:10 p.m. and began canvassing for witnesses and video footage in the neighborhood. Investigators later determined the same Explorer was seen in Lowell at about 6:47 p.m. and entered a garage on Maple Street. According to the Dracut Police Department, there is no ongoing threat to the public.
Search warrant executed on Maple Street
On Saturday, detectives executed a search warrant at the Maple Street address with assistance from the Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council SWAT Team and located the Explorer, which was towed from the scene. Police also learned the vehicle matching that description had been reported stolen out of Lawrence, and investigators have not said whether anyone was arrested.
