A man was found dead inside a crumpled Chevrolet sedan Saturday after a single-car crash at the intersection of the north I-10 service road and Neyrey Drive in Metairie, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office. Deputies discovered the vehicle wedged between the roadway and a concrete wall, and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to WGNO, Sheriff Joseph Lopinto said deputies arrived to find the car tucked against the concrete barrier, with the man suffering from crash-related injuries. The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office has opened a formal investigation into what led to the wreck.
Crash Site And Local Context
The crash unfolded on a tight, busy stretch where service roads and ramps feed into I-10, a spot locals know can turn chaotic in a hurry. WDSU reported a deadly single-vehicle crash on Veterans Boulevard near Neyrey Drive in October 2025, and an earlier fatal Veterans crash was covered as authorities worked to sort out what happened there.
Investigation Ongoing
The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office said crash investigators remained on scene and have not yet released the victim’s identity, per WGNO. Deputies are asking anyone who may have seen the collision or has information about the driver’s movements before the crash to contact JPSO as they work to piece together the timeline.
Traffic in the area was disrupted while investigators documented the scene and crews removed the vehicle. Officials have not said whether impairment, speed, mechanical failure, or any other factor might have contributed to the crash, leaving neighbors and drivers with more questions than answers for now.
