Gunfire jolted part of Algiers on Monday morning when New Orleans police found a man shot on a residential stretch of Brunswick Court on the West Bank.
Officers responded to the 6400 block of Brunswick Court around 9:16 a.m. and discovered a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound, according to WDSU. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The New Orleans Police Department has said the investigation is ongoing and has not released many additional details about how the shooting unfolded.
Algiers Has Seen High-Profile Incidents Recently
The Algiers neighborhood has already been on edge after a series of shootings in recent months that have drawn concern from both residents and city officials, as noted in coverage of recent Algiers shootings. One particularly tragic case in May 2025 involved a 9-year-old who was critically wounded during a shootout and later died, according to WAFB. Those incidents have kept a spotlight on gun violence prevention and enforcement on the West Bank.

The case is still classified as an active investigation, and police have not publicly identified any suspects or suggested a possible motive, WDSU reports.
