A quiet stretch of Ridge Road in Bulls Gap has become the center of a homicide-style investigation, after Hawkins County deputies found 55-year-old Claude Taylor dead inside a home in what authorities are calling a suspicious death.
Deputies were called to the house on March 22 for a report of an unresponsive man, according to the Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office. When they arrived, Taylor was found dead, and questions started piling up faster than answers.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has been brought in to assist, and the sheriff’s office said that “no suspects have been identified at this time,” as reported by WATE.
What investigators are saying
In a statement to WATE, the Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office described Taylor’s death as “suspicious” and said the incident “appears to be isolated” while detectives continue to process the scene and track down and interview potential witnesses.
So far, investigators have not publicly released a cause of death. They also have not said whether an autopsy has been completed, leaving the circumstances around Taylor’s final hours largely a mystery.

Bulls Gap is a town of roughly 750 residents in Hawkins County and is part of the Tri-Cities region, according to Wikipedia. In a place that small, a suspicious death does not just make headlines, it makes the rounds in every conversation.
