Word of the daring drop did not stay confined to the street. Social posts and a thread on r/pittsburgh began circulating Friday, describing someone drifting past office windows under a parachute. One user wrote, “Looked out my window at work and saw a guy parachuting right by,” according to Reddit. Those online accounts line up with what witnesses told responding officers and have spurred calls for anyone with video to send it to investigators.
Not the First Time in Pittsburgh
This is not exactly a brand-new stunt for downtown. In April 2025, two people BASE-jumped from 1 PPG Place, prompting another police investigation, according to KDKA. At the time, a skydiving operator told the station, “The majority of base jumps made are illegal,” underscoring the legal gray area and safety questions that tend to follow rooftop leaps.
Legal Risks and Public-Safety Concerns
In previous Pittsburgh cases, police have pursued trespassing and related charges after similar jumps, and investigators have noted that unauthorized parachute landings can put bystanders and first responders in harm’s way.
