NATICK — A busy trip to the Natick Mall turned frightening on Friday when a person was stabbed inside the shopping center and rushed to a hospital, according to Natick police. Officers said the victim suffered a wound to the arm and was transported for treatment, while the suspect took off before police arrived. The department has launched an active investigation into the incident.
What police say
Officers were called to the mall after multiple reports of a stabbing, Boston 25 News reported. The outlet said the victim was stabbed in the arm and taken to a hospital, and that while a suspect fled the scene, “a person involved” in the incident was taken into custody on outstanding warrants. Authorities have not publicly clarified that individual’s role in the stabbing.

Past incidents and security
This is not the first time security at the sprawling complex has been tested. A 2016 flash‑mob theft at the Apple store, in which a group grabbed multiple iPhones and bolted, drew wide attention, according to CBS Boston. In the years since, local police and emergency crews have also used the mall as a large-scale training ground, staging active-shooter and mass‑casualty drills there, WCVB reported.
Investigation underway
Natick police have not released further information on the hospitalized victim’s condition or on the person arrested on warrants, and have not announced any additional arrests tied to the stabbing.
