Peruvian Brothers, the popular food-truck-turned-restaurant run by brothers Mario and Giuseppe Lanzone, is gearing up to open a third DMV storefront at 660 North Capitol Street NW. Fresh signage has appeared at the corner of G Street, and the company is listing the address as “coming soon.” For now, though, there is still no official opening date.
What the license filing shows
A liquor-license application reviewed by What Now indicates the new spot is planned for 46 seats with an occupancy load of 69. The proposed hours run from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, pointing to a daytime-heavy operation rather than a late-night bar scene. The filing keeps things vague on timing, offering no opening date and no specifics on when alcohol service might begin.
From market stalls to a North Capitol storefront
Peruvian Brothers started with a single food truck and has since grown into a mini-empire of trucks, catering, and permanent counters, according to the Peruvian Brothers website. Their La Cosecha counter at Union Market is featured on the Union Market District site and still serves as a flagship for the Pan con Chicharrón sandwich. On the company’s Locations page, the North Capitol address is already listed with a simple promise: “coming soon.”
Neighborhood context
Neighbors have been eyeing that stretch of North Capitol for any sign of life in the retail storefronts. PoPville reported in February that the Peruvian Brothers signage went up and noted the corner space had been sitting empty since the building opened more than eight years ago. Local planning efforts have also flagged this corridor as a priority, with materials calling for reactivating North Capitol and tying it more closely to nearby institutions and parks, according to North Capitol Crossroads. For now, office workers and nearby residents are left watching the windows, waiting for an opening date and to see whether Peruvian Brothers sticks with the daytime-focused schedule outlined in its license filing.
