A quiet stretch of Bluebird Lane turned into an active crime scene early Tuesday after a 911 caller reported a shooting just before 2 a.m. DeKalb County officers flooded the 3100 block, roping off the street and combing the front yard with flashlights. Investigators spotted a handgun lying in the mulch near the front porch. It appeared a house party was underway when the gunfire erupted, and detectives were seen moving in and out of the home to question possible witnesses while several people remained inside.
According to Atlanta News First, investigators stayed on scene for hours after the initial call, keeping both the house and the street taped off as they worked. The outlet reported that the handgun was clearly visible in the mulch near the porch and that officers used flashlights to methodically canvas the front lawn for additional evidence.
WSB reporters said Channel 2’s Cory James saw officers lining the street while an officer at the scene confirmed that at least one person had been taken to Grady Memorial Hospital and another to a nearby hospital. The officer did not share information about either victim’s condition, and WSB described the situation as an active investigation.
